| Research Projects Forest Vegetation Simulator at Michigan Technological University - NEW This website is a clearinghouse for research at MTU involving the Forest Vegetation Simulator (FVS). We have a number of projects underway involving FVS, which is a forest vegetation simulation model and framework that has been developed and used extensively in the United States, and more recently in Canada. Find out more here: http://www.fvs.mtu.edu. Structuring and Increment Model for a Great Lakes Regional FVS Variant The Forest Vegetation Simulator system, and earlier incarnations, has been in use in the US Lake States (Minnesota, Wisconsin and Michigan) since the late 1970's. Several efforts have been made to adapt the Lake States FVS Variant for Ontario, most recently involving an extensive adaptation of software developed in British Columbia, in metric, and new increment and mortality equations. This project involves a study of the key underlying FVS sub-model, for diameter increment. Find out more here: http://www.fvs.mtu.edu/glfvs. For more information on projects listed here, or on other work at the MTU Biometrics Lab, please contact Dr. Robert Froese. See our contact page for details. |
